Amidst the heat and beat of the city in the heart of Causeway Bay, Wan Chai District Commander John Cox officiated at the opening of a Fight Crime Publicity Campaign at the Open Piazza of Times Square last month.

A joint effort by Wan Chai District and Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee, the publicity campaign focused on prevention of property crimes, including theft, pickpocket and deception, which are more prevalent in this popular shopping hub of the city. The event was well attended by district councilors and representatives of the local community.

Highlight of the event was a Pledging Ceremony, where 80 young people from 12 youth organisations or uniformed cadres, including Wan Chai JPC, vowed to stay away from crime, to help police fight crime and pass on fight-crime messages to their peers and relatives. After this, Mr Cox and other officiating guests led the fight crime ambassadors to distribute anti-crime leaflets and souvenirs to shops and shoppers in Causeway Bay area.
