A card to deliver care |

With Christmas around the corner, officers of Kowloon East Regional Juvenile Protection Section (JPS KE) are sending Christmas cards to the 600 youths under their supervision to show the police do care for them. To add a personal touch, the officers sign every card and send it out, together with a small gift. This "A Card to Deliver Care" exercise was launched recently with the support of Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office and Police Souvenir Shop as a measure to keep the youths away from crime. Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Officer Ko Shek-cheong emphasised that the JPS KE provides not only routine supervision, but also intense care to the youths. "Bearing in mind that some of them come from grassroot families and their feelings might be neglected, we're trying to bring some Christmas joy to them. I hope this would help to strengthen our relationship with the youths, as well as their parents or guardians," he noted. Handling cases under the Police Superintendent's Discretion Scheme, JPS KE officers maintain close contact with the youngsters under supervision to help them return to school, stay away from crime and eventually become law-abiding citizens.
