Bank presents plaques to CCB | ||
The Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) has presented plaques to Commercial Crime Bureau in appreciation of the good work of the Technology Crime Division (TCD) in detecting a number of e-Banking theft cases.
Last month, Head of SCB Directing Banking, Ms Pauline Lai, Area Head of Group Financial Crime Risk (North East Asia) of SCB, Mr Roger Chow, and SCB staff called at CCB to praise TCD officers for their professionalism and teamwork.
TCD officers' in-depth investigation revealed that two SCB staff members had illegally passed SCB customers' information to a syndicate for conducting e-Banking theft at cyber cafes. The officers later arrested six members of the syndicate and recovered all the leaked information.
Later three persons, including the mastermind, were convicted at District Court of "conspiracy to obtain access to computer with dishonest intent", "conspiracy to steal" and "possession of equipment for making a false instrument" and were sentenced to imprisonments ranging from two years and six months to four years.
