Operation EXIGENT

Dear Sir,

I am SUPR RCCC NT, and have some feelings, which I want to share with my fellow officers. Ten months ago, when I first arrived at RCCC NT, I found a very interesting and exciting operation - Operation EXIGENT - during familiarisation. Since then, I had been waiting for the chance to conduct such operation. I, therefore, had studied hard the operational order and carried a copy of it everyday, waiting for the day I could use it.

My dream came true in the morning of January 17, 2005 when CTRL RCCC NT announced the start of Operation EXIGENT for the TYDIV Robbery. As RCCC NT moved from 6/F to 10/F last December for implementation of CC3, most document cabinets and drawers had been relocated. So when people were "hunting" for the "opt order", to their surprise, I immediately pulled out mine from my briefcase.

With the full co-operation of all RCCC staff and the ground resources, the important information of the WVs and WPs were quickly gathered and broadcast in "out to all" mode through CC3. Although there were some criticisms of the poor coverage and blind spots of CC3 radio, I found that it had no effect, or only had a very small effect, on this case as our efficient "out to all" messages could show the system's efficiency.

Actions were taken quickly and effectively according to the "opt order". Officers with specific duties were "in position" one by one. Soon, I heard that the Mobfix SSDIV officers reported that WV1 had been located. I rushed to SSDIV Console and clarified with the ground officers about the details of WV1. After enquiry, we found that WV1 was not connected with the robbery. RCCC staff was disappointed and, I supposed, so were the ground officers. Through the beat radio, on behalf of CTRL RCCC, I passed his compliments to all ground duties for their hard and good work, especially to the Mobfix SSDIV officers, and encouraged all of them to carry on. An officer replied "thank you" and hoped that they could catch the real one later. I wished them good luck and then cheered up the RCCC staff.

Then, I returned to the SUPR desk and continued monitoring the case. Suddenly, a PCO shouted: "Sir, your compliments really cheered them up. The SSDIV officers have just located WV2." I rushed to SSDIV Console again to clarify with the ground officers about the details of WV2. This time, the result was "Bingo!" Having known that the WV2 and WPs had been stopped finally, most RCCC staff were so excited with lots of "Bravo.., Cool..., Hurray..., etc." CTRL RCCC personally passed his compliments to all officers in both NTN & NTS Regions through radio.
