CPB thanks over fewer false alarms

Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) has paid recognition to six security companies, whose central alarm monitoring stations had the lowest number of false alarms per subscriber in 2004.

At a ceremony held at CPB, Acting Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Wong Pak-nin presented certificates of appreciation to representatives of the companies.

The format of the ceremony has been expanded to recognise the contributions made by both large and small companies alike. As a result of the collective efforts of CPB's Intruder Alarms Inspection Unit and companies like the certificate recipients, the incidence of false alarms fell by nearly 20 per cent last year. On top of that, the average number of false alarms has dropped below one per subscriber for the first time ever in Hong Kong. This translates into a significant saving in police manpower and resources that would otherwise be wasted investigating false calls.
