A record 31,133 kilograms of clothing and other items have been collected during the Force Warm Clothing Collection Campaign 2005, which was jointly organised by the Force and the Salvation Army, with the support of staff associations, PMQ Residents' Associations and Co-operative Societies and the Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps.

A Handover Ceremony of the donated clothing and items was held recently at Kwai Chung Police Married Quarters when Senior Force Welfare Officer, Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch, Mr Wong Wai-chuen, handed over a bag of clothing to Lieut-Colonel Alfred Tsang, Officer Commanding of the Salvation Army Hong Kong & Macau Command.

In return, Mr Tsang presented the Collection Record to Assistant Commissioner - Designate, Charlie Cheung, who is Chairman of the Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps. Mr Tsang also presented souvenirs to 24 representatives from the participating groups in appreciation of their support and efforts.

In a brief speech, Mr Cheung encouraged Force members to continue devoting their time and energy to providing volunteer services to the community.

Shortly before the Lunar New Year, around 40 volunteers, accompanied by their families, from Yaumatei Division Volunteer Group, Police Tactical Unit's Tango Company and Marine Harbour Division Volunteer Group visited the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command's Yaumatei Multi-service Centre for Senior Citizens, and brought season's greetings and gifts to 90 elderly persons. During the visit, the volunteers also entertained the elderly with magic show, songs and games.
