Putonghua group formed
HKPCCC Chairman Assistant Commissioner Hung Hak-wai, Vice-Chairman Superintendent Au Yeung Yan-chun, PTU Delta Company Commander Superintendent Cheng Tak-ming and the group tutor, Miss Li Hung officiated at the group's first gathering at the KTOB Resource Centre in the evening of March 23. During the evening, more than 30 colleagues, mostly from PTU KE, had fun in socialising in, and enhanced the confidence in using Putonghua.
As with other HKPCCC activities, officers and civilian staff, including serving and retired, are welcome to join the Putonghua group, which meets every Wednesday from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm. The fee is $10 per lesson, and those interested may contact SIP Tso Kai-chi at 8115-0760.
Since its establishment in 1998, HKPCCC has been promoting and developing the knowledge and interests of Force members in all facets of Chinese cultures with various interest groups, including Chinese orchestra, Cantonese opera, Chinese dancing and other Putonghua groups, located in PHQ, HKI, KE, NTS and NTN. As contacts between Hong Kong and the Mainland increases rapidly, the Police Chinese Culture Club (HKPCCC) has set up a new Putonghua group at Kai Tak Operational Base (KTOB) for Force members to learn, practise and brush up their Putonghua in a pleasant and informal setting.
