Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai hosted a garden party in his residence on March 19 in honour of seven officers who are recuperating from serious injuries sustained while on duty.

The officers are Sergeants Sze Kwan-ming and Lai Chi-wai, who were both injured by gun-shots from a culprit while carrying out an anti-burglary operation in Kowloon City in 2001; Senior Police Constable To Kan-chuen, Senior Police Constable Lee Tak-yin, and Police Constable Yeung Po-wah, all of whom were injured while carrying out traffic duties, as well as Station Sergeant Leung Yan-keung of SBDIV and Police Constable Lam King-yin of SKDIV, both injured on duty.

Mr Lee told the officers that he was very pleased that they were recuperating with remarkable progress and in very good spirit. The officers told Mr Lee and senior officers their experiences of going through long and eventful treatments and rehabilitations, and expressed gratitude for the support of the Force and their families.

Also attending the garden party were officers who had joined the government contingent sent to Phuket to help Hong Kong residents hit by the tsunami disaster.
