1. Officers should clarify any discrepancy or inconsistency that might be observed during traffic accident investigations, before considering taking prosecution action.

2. In handling a traffic accident at the scene, officers should check with RCCC to ascertain whether the vehicle licence has expired.

3. When police drivers and motorcyclists stop vehicles for traffic enforcement action, they should stop their vehicles behind the target vehicle when it comes to a halt. The blue flashing light and amber hazard light should remain on throughout the checking.

4. When issuing Fixed Penalty Ticket, officers should always fill in the correct date, time, place of the traffic contravention and also the e-payment number.

5. When issuing Pol 570 ticket, names of roads should, wherever possible, be written in English and should conform to the road name sign.

6. The sketch of the scene of a traffic accident should be prepared as neatly as possible and should include all measurements necessary to fix the exact position of any exhibits, etc. found at the scene.

7. After handling a traffic accident, officers shall record details of the accident in his notebook, including the person and vehicle involved.

8. When damage only traffic accidents (TADO) with complaints occur, officers should complete a Pol 284A (Road Accident Report Booklet) and make a brief account of the incident in the notebook.

9. When a police vehicle is involved in a traffic accident, the police driver or other officers present at the scene shall contact the appropriate RCCC to inform the Special Investigation Section and the Accident Investigation Unit of the appropriate Regional Traffic for action, and take any necessary measures to control the scene.

10. If there is damage to property or injury to any person as a result of a traffic accident involving a police vehicle, officers shall not make any statement orally or in writing except to another police officer of liability for the damage or injury caused.
