Nine officers get CP's Commendation

Nine officers, comprising one Senior Inspector, one Station Sergeant, two Sergeants and five Police Constables, have been presented with the Commissioner's Commendation for outstanding performance.

SIP Ng Wai-hon, SGT Choi Kwok-chuen and PC Lai Kwok-yung have been commended for their investigation of a murder case in June 2003, which led to the successful detection of an earlier kidnapping case, prosecution of the principal offender and recovery of a pistol and other exhibits used in the murder.

SSGT Kwok Yiu-wai has earned his commendation for his outstanding performance in community liaison, school liaison and JPC activities in the capacity of Assistant Police Community Relations Officer of Wong Tai Sin District between September 1996 and April 2004.

SGT Tang Wai-hung, PCs Tam Yiu-fai and Cheung Shuk-hoi have been awarded their commendation for arresting an emotionally disturbed man who attacked and wounded the three officers with a chopper and a knife at Tsing Yi Estate in May 2003.

PC Chan Fai-chun has been commended for his role in an anti-triad operation in Wong Tai Sin between 2002 and 2003, which had led to the conviction of 25 persons by the Magistrates' Court and District Court for serious triad offences.

PC Ko Tak-sing has earned his commendation for his outstanding role in a rescue operation at Wang Chau in May 2004. In the face of great danger and potential injury, he volunteered to take a lifejacket and a lifeline from a police launch to a person who was injured and stranded on a cliff, by swimming across a stretch of very rough sea.
