Medals galore for police shooters

Two Force shooters have pulled off a total of 24 trophies in five International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) open competitions organised by the Hong Kong Shooting Association in 2004 and 2005.

Sergeant Lee Siu-wah and Woman Police Constable Wong Tung-nei, both members of the Police Olympic-event Shooting Team, have proven their prowess at the Hong Kong Open (Mid-year) Shooting Competition 2004, 47th Hong Kong Festival of Sports 2004, Hong Kong Annual Shooting Competition 2004, Hong Kong Second Shooting Competition 2004 and Spring Shooting Open Competition 2005.

SGT Lee carried off eight gold, three silver and two bronze in three 25-metre ISSF events. With the best individual result ever for a police shooter, SGT Lee has been nominated for the selection of the best shooting athlete of HKSAR for 2005.

WPC Wong's performances are no less impressive, having walked away with seven gold, three silver and one bronze in 25-metre pistol event and 10-metre air pistol event.

Meanwhile, other members of the police shooting team have also overshadowed local shooters in Olympic shooting events. Superintendent (Auxiliary) Edgar Yang, Station Sergeants Lau Tung-yuk and Kwong Chi-keung, Woman Police Constable Lui Siu-chong, Woman Police Constable (Auxiliary) Lo Ka-kei and Police Constable (Auxiliary) So Bing-chuen have also walked away with a total of six gold, 11 silver, and 12 bronze from other Men's 25-metre pistol, Ladies' 25-metre pistol, Men's 10-metre air rifle and Ladies' 10-metre air pistol events.
