Information Systems Wing (ISW), Operations Wing and Training Wing recently jointly organised a Management Deveopment Programme (MDP) seminar to make Force members more aware of the latest development of the Force's information technology and client service, as well as advancements in police radio communications.

The seminar attracted 300 officers of inspectorate rank and above, as well as civilian staff, whose feedback was overwhelmingly supportive and encouraging, indicating that the briefing has met its objectives.

Addressing the seminar, Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Bonnie Smith told the audience that ISW managed over 70 applications within the Force, seven of which were mission-critical, some 8,000 networked terminals and 5,000 standalone terminals.

She said the Force had come a long way in applying information and communication technology, adding that the recent successful implementation of CC III radio system, which, with its state-of-the-art functionalities, would further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of operational policing.

The seminar was the first of a series being organised by Training Wing's Professional Development Learning Centre (formerly known as the Higher Training Bureau) for Formation Commanders and other supervisory officers to gain a better understanding of the work of different policy wings and the Force's current and future developments.

The next MDP seminar will be conducted by the Finance & Administration Department in September.
