Students meet PTS recruits

For Yuen Long District Police Community Relations Office (YLDIST PCRO) and Police Training School (PTS), summer vacation is an ideal time to steer youngsters away from triads and crime.

With the sponsorship of the Yuen Long District Fight Crime Committee (YL DFCC), they brought a total of 96 Form 1 and 2 students from Yuen Long District to meet recruit constables from PTS at three "Summer Anti-triad and Fight Crime" workshops last month. Another main objective of the workshops was to help the students identify and strive for "the goals of life".

At the workshops, the students met face to face with the recruits and discussed their life at PTS and their jobs after passing out from PTS. Both parties also had animated discussions on other subjects, such as discipline, accountability, tenacity, self-confidence, inter-personal relationship and respect for others, etc. After the meeting, some of the students said they realised it was essential to work out plans for the future and the path to success.

The Chairman of the YL DFCC, Mr Chan Ka-hung, and several DFCC members attended the workshops to encourage the students to work hard in their studies and to make the most of the advice given by the PTS recruits.

The workshops are by no means a stop-gap measure. The Secondary School Liaison Officers of the YLDIST PCRO will follow-up on the progress of the participating students and provide proper counselling, with the assistance of their discipline masters.
