About 70 golfers from departments and regions, along with teams from auxiliary and retired officers, took part in the second annual Inter-Major Formations Golf Tournament organised by the Hong Kong Police Golfing Society (HKPGS) at the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course on July 29.

The players competed for the Cheung Chi-sum Memorial Trophy, braving far from ideal weather condition with occasional torrential downpours and gale force wind. With the extremely difficult condition on the course, some very interesting scores inevitably emerged. Nevertheless, most players fought on and showed tremendous sportsmanship and skills.

In the individual net category, Herman Wong Tung-kwong from Crime Wing held off retired Director of Crime and Security Louis Lau Chun-sing on count-back to win on 37 stableford points. Chan Kwok-pui from New Territories North Region was third on 36 stableford points. Cheng Tak-ming from Marine Region scored the highest gross stableford points of 25.

In the main competition of the day, the combined team from D & E Departments scored 127 points to edge out the defending champion team of the "Retirees" by two points to win the Cheung Chi-sum Memorial Trophy. Kowloon West Region was third on 122 points.

HKPGS Chairman, Mr Victor Lo Yik-kee; Marine Regional Commander, Mr Au Hok-lam; former HKPGS Chairman, Mr Chan Tit-kin, and Mr Lau presented trophies.
