In an e-mail to the Commissioner, the chairman, on behalf of seven villages, thanked Mr Cheung and Ms Kwong for taking prompt action and making successful arrests, following a village elder's report of robbery in a country park. The chairman pointed out that the action had not only reflected the Force's efficiency and high quality, but also ensured safety for villagers and contributed to tourism and economic development in Hong Kong. |

Shop owner in Mong Kok |
The shop owner approached the officers for help when a man walked into his shop to try to sell three CD-Roms stolen earlier from his branch shop in Diamond Hill. After being questioned, the man admitted the offence. The shop owner said the officers, besides handling the case in a professional manner, had allayed his fear of retaliation, explained a citizen's roles in fighting crime and given advice on measures to prevent similar theft from his shop. |

Motorist |
The motorist pulled up at the kerb amid busy traffic in Lung Cheung Road when a tyre suddenly burst. While he was waiting for help, the officers on motorcycle patrol stopped and helped him replace the flat tyre in a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius. The motorist said the officers had acted beyond the call of duty, solving his problem and traffic jam and setting a good example for other civil servants. |

The motorist said he offered some money to SGT Wong after he had helped him replace a flat tyre in the busy Gloucester Road, but SGT Wong revealed that he is an off-duty police officer and turned down the offer. He said he was impressed by what SGT Wong had done as a police officer. |
