A seven-member Study Group headed by the Deputy Head of Dongshan Sub-office of Guangzhou City Public Security Bureau, Mr Wei Suxin, paid a five-day exchange visit to the Force with the objectives of forging closer ties, strengthening the effectiveness of combating crimes, exchanging police knowledge and understanding the Force's operations and structure through field observations.

The group visited various units, including New Territories South Regional Headquarters, Police Tactical Unit Headquarters, Psychological Services Group, and Complaints Against Police Office, gaining an insight into internal functioning, operation strategies and scope of services.

Superintendent Chan Wing-hong, Divisional Commander of Sha Tin Division, who was acquainted with Mr Wei during an exchange training programme in Guangzhou City Public Security Bureau late last year, personally received the Study Group and briefed group members on the Force's structure, operations and contingency plans. Besides the New Territories Regional Command & Control Centre, the group also visited Sha Tin Police Station to study the operations, structure and technical support of a police station.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr Wei pointed out that through their observations, group members came to realise that the Force is "a team with a high standard and a high level of professionalism, and keeps abreast of times".

"This exchange visit has strengthened our friendship. More important is the fact that we'll bring back what we've observed here to share with our colleagues, thus achieving the objectives of our exchange programmes," he noted.
