At the invitation of Kowloon West Region, Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) Chief Superintendent Alfred Ma Wai-luk recently offered some tips on media communication at an experience sharing session to 62 officers ranging from inspector to CSP rank from different formations in the Region.

Mr Ma spoke of the effective ways of communicating with the mass media and illustrated in detail the existing co-operation amongst PPRB, mass media and formations, as well as reporters' reporting culture, and means of research. To illustrate effective media management, Mr Ma quoted a number of real life examples to stimulate the audience's interest and offered advice on the dos and don'ts.

The 90-minute experience sharing session, held in Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station, also saw animated and interactive exchanges between the speaker and audience on many other issues, including building partnership with the mass media.

At the conclusion of the event, officers generally found the session useful in enhancing their confidence and knowledge in communicating with the mass media.
