New ISSP in the pipeline

As part of preparation for a new Information Systems Strategic Plan (ISSP) to align with the Commissioner's Operational Targets and Strategic Action Plan for the next six years, an advisory panel has provided professional advice on technical innovations in other organisations.

The ISSP Advisory Panel comprised academics and experts from prestigious tertiary institutes and corporations. They were Professor Kar-yan Tam, Head, Information and Systems Management, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology; Dr Nancy Law, Head, Centre for Information Technology in Education, Faculty of Education, the University of Hong Kong; Dr Mike Keppel, Principal Lecturer and Head, Centre for Integrating Technology in Education, The Hong Kong Institute of Education; Mr Michael Chua Hing-ming, Head, Business Development, Hong Kong Article Numbering Association; Mr K K Yeung, Executive Director, Hong Kong Productivity Council; Mr Graham Higgins, Manager, Learning and Development Group, Personnel Department, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited, and Mr Joe Lacandro, IT Director, China Light and Power.

Having received valuable assistance and guidance from the panel, the Force has incorporated a number of fruitful suggestions from panel members in proposals for the next ISSP. As a token of appreciation for their effort and contribution, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Fung Siu-yuen presented souvenirs to panel members at a ceremony held in the restaurant in Arsenal House on August 5. Some 30 disciplined and civilian staff members from Information Systems Wing were also present at the presentation ceremony.
