LTDIST officers clean up beach

The newly established Lantau District Police Volunteer Team recently embarked on its first community service by cleaning up the Pui O beach, following earlier reports that rubbish was contaminating the beaches on Lantau Island.

Led by their District Commander, Senior Superintendent Keith Chau, a group of some 30 officers, some being accompanied by their families, spent more than two hours on Pui O beach picking waste and debris piece by piece and restoring the beach's beauty and cleanliness. This "Cleaning Operation" not only reminded the volunteer workers about the importance of protecting the environment, but also encouraged them to make a contribution by taking concrete actions.

The LTDIST Police Volunteer Team was formed in early July to promote healthy lifestyle and the spirit of community service. Colleagues interested in joining the team may contact WSIP Jamy Chan Lai-man on 2988-2365.
