Marine Region played host to mildly to moderately mentally handicapped persons from the Hong Chi Oi Tung Hostel and their families, 61 in all, during visit to Marine Regional Headquarters on August 27.

TSRO MAR Stanley Yu escorted the visitors round the Marine RCCC and explained the work of the Marine Police. Besides officers from Marine Regional Headquarters, 13 volunteers from the "Healthy Lifestyle" group of Marine West Division and 30 cadets from Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps also pitched in to ensure that the event went off smoothly.

After the visit, the manageress of the hostel wrote to thank Marine Region for organising the event that had given the visitors a most wonderful and educational experience, as well as a better understanding of the Marine Police. She also reckoned that the hospitality demonstrated throughout the tour of Marine Region Headquarters, police craft and other facilities had brought out the message of "community acceptance of the mentally handicapped" loud and clear.
