1. In handling unclassified documents, which contain personal data, all officers should ensure that they are appropriately endorsed with "PERSONAL DATA -
個人資料", and that there is no unauthorised disclosure.

2. When the unclassified documents and other material containing personal data are taken home or to other private premises, they must be kept in a secure place which prevents unauthorised persons from gaining access. In respect of electronic data, a secure password will suffice.

3. Officers may fax unclassified documents containing personal data, but they should ensure that the intended recipient has received the transmission.

4. An officer may face disciplinary action if he fails to take all reasonable steps to ensure compliance with the Data Protection principles in respect of the personal data under his control.
