The first "Balances and Wisdom" seminar in 2006, "Perspectives of Problem Gambling", will be held on Saturday, February 18, in the PHQ Auditorium, starting at 10 am.

Three speakers will analyse problem gambling from different professional perspectives with emphasis on the recent trends of the issue in Hong Kong, in particular soccer and internet gambling, and on how policing may have affected gambling behaviours.

The community and medical approaches in treating problem gamblers will also be discussed, with illustration of real cases. Those interested in the seminar may call Mrs Sit at 2866-1992 during office hours or contact Psychological Services Group (PSG) by PEN at psg-gr@police.gov.hk for registration.

Last year, PSG held five seminars during the "Balances and Wisdom" Mental Health Promotion Campaign, with different guest speakers sharing with participants their experiences and wisdom in ways to achieve balance in life. We would like to express our gratitude to all Force members for their support for the seminars.

We will continue to hold seminars of different topics in 2006 in the hope that force members would be inspired and encouraged to pursue a balance lifestyle.

(All cases will be kept in strict confidence.)

At a "Balances and Wisdom" seminar held last year, local renowned artist Yim Yee-king shared with the audience through drawing his wisdom of seeking spiritual balance
