The Hong Kong Police College organised a one-day Management Development Seminar at PHQ auditorium on January 10 for over 140 officers, including Acting Commissioner Tang King-shing, members of SDG, Commandant of Auxiliary Police, and other senior officers of superintendent rank and above, as well as civilian counterparts. Entitled "Strategic Change Management for Hong Kong Police Force", the seminar was the first of its kind ever run by the Police College in partnership with the Oxford University and the HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE). Speaking at the seminar, Senior Superintendent Bernie So, Co-ordinator of the Management Development Programmes, said that the programmes would enhance the professionalism of Force training through partnership with universities, overseas law enforcement agencies and police training institutes. The seminar provided the audience with an opportunity to delve into some of the strategic change management models, and raise questions with renowned scholars on issues relating to the application of different management tools for policing. Most importantly, the seminar also provided the audience with a valuable opportunity to come together and share experience across different ranks. "Furthermore, the different seminars and in-service training programmes now being organised by the Police College are emblematic of the Force's continuous emphasis on police training and staff development," Mr So noted. Addressing the seminar were four renowned scholars, Dr Loizos Heracleous and Dr David Pendleton of the Oxford University, Dr Peter Fong of HKU SPACE, and Dr Tan Tay-keong of Singapore International Foundation.
