The newly elected members of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force's (HKAPF) Internal Review and Management Committee (IRMC) have begun their three-year term of office.

They were elected after a Re-election Sub-committee chaired by Auxiliary Senior Superintendent Fung Kam-tong, completed its task in October last year. Like their colleagues who served in the previous term, the new IRMC members will act as a communication channel between IRMC and their Regions, Districts and Divisions by collecting and presenting views to IRMC on duties, training, welfare and other matters of concern.

The newly elected IRMC held its first meeting recently when the Commandant of HKAPF, Mr Kwok Chi-shun, presented appointment letters to the newly elected members, as well as appreciation letters to the members and a working party who have served in the previous term of IRMC.

IRMC was set up in January 2000 to study the 33 recommendations put forward by the Force Committee on Auxiliary Police in March 1999. Subsequently, it was recognised as a Standing Committee with extended membership to strengthen communications among Auxiliary members and to serve as a channel for forwarding their views and suggestions on developments and issues affecting the Auxiliary Police Force to the Commandant.

In November 2001, IRMC passed a resolution that all representatives of Regions, Districts, Divisions and Auxiliary Police Band should be selected by an election process. In order to ensure a fair representation of all ranks, superintendents or above were to represent the regional constituencies, inspectorate officers the district constituencies and junior police officers the divisional constituencies.
