Record number of teams join mountain marathon | |||
A total of 133 teams, each comprising two runners, took part in the 29th Police Mountain Marathon organised by the Police Adventure Club (PAC) earlier this month. This gruelling two-day competition attracted the biggest number of teams ever, and around 100 of them completed the whole journey in chilly weather. The teams started off from Tsuen Wan Police Station in the morning of January 7, trekking rugged hill paths according to their own designed routes to reach Tai Tong in Yuen Long. After camping overnight in Tai Tong, they were on the way again the next day, reaching the final destination in Yuen Long Police Station in the afternoon to the cheers and applauses of their families and supporters. Police Sports Council Chairman Lee Ka-chiu presented the winners with their trophies. PAC Chairman Li Hong-man pointed out that the participants had cemented fellowship and spent a day of healthy lifestyle outdoors. Thanking all who had supported the mountain marathon, he hoped that the 30th anniversary of the event next year would attract more participants. This year's mountain marathon was divided into four categories, namely Open, Seniors, Experience and Ladies. The winners and runners-up are: Open Category Acting SSGT Leung Yat and SGT Poon Fook-chiu, winners; SSGT Chan Shun-kit and Ng Chun-ting, first runners-up; and SIP Chan Kin-kwok and Acting SGT Chan Shing-kin, second runners-up. Seniors Category SGT Lau Chak-chung and Sun Tai-on, winners; SSGT Yip Kam-man and SGT So Kwok-ki, first runners-up; and SPC Lok Wai-keung and Chan Kwok-hung, second runners-up.
