Taking Time off

Question: "I am DPC Ho working in a DVIT. As at March 1, I have 20 hours of accrued overtime balance by the end of January, and I earned a further 10 hours of overtime in February. Can I take Vacation Leave (VL) in March?"

Answer: Under the "TO Before VL Principle", DPC Ho should take time off before taking VL. If he wishes to take a day off, he should take TO instead of VL, until his overtime balance has been reduced to less than one day.

There, however, could be the following exceptions to the "TO Before VL Principle":

* DPC Ho has accumulated the maximum amount of earned leave or would otherwise forfeit leave earned.

* His Formation SP authorises an exception with the justifications documented for future reference and auditing purposes.
