After six weeks of intense competition among 12 Major Formations teams, the finals of the 2006 Wallis Trophy Competition took place at POC last month when PHQ 1 took on Marine 1. Both teams were very evenly matched and at the 17th end, the score stood at 17 points apiece with one end to play. Eventually Marine 1 clinched the title, winning the game in the final end by one shot.

The winning team comprised Mr Lau Kin-man, Mr Chan Wai-keung, Mr Pang Wai-keung, and Mr Wong Shih-pao.

Presenting the Wallis Trophy, Assistant Commissioner (Support) Blaine Hoggard said he thoroughly enjoyed watching the finals even though he did not play lawn bowls.

Many new players have been introduced to the game of lawn bowls by taking part in the Wallis Trophy competition, and those who take up the game seriously have been rewarded with a lifetime of a competitive sport, camaraderie and a healthy lifestyle.

Anyone interest in the Wallis Trophy competition in 2007 may contact the Hong Kong Police Lawn Bowls Club Convener, Mr Adrian Kwan, on 2731-7229 for an introduction to the game and training courses.
