Officiating at the ceremony, Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai reminisced the late philanthropist's contributions to police staff welfare and thanked his family for their continuing support.

After the Commissioner's brief speech, a minute's silence was observed and a bouquet was presented to Sir Shiu Kin's widow, Lady May. Sir Shiu Kin's son, Richard, was also present at the ceremony.

Donated by Sir Shiu Kin's family as a gesture of his close relationship with the Force, the silver mace is being used by the Police Pipe Band in all major official ceremonies.
