Thirteen receive CP's Commendation

Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai presented Commissioner's Commendation last month to six officers for their outstanding performances during the World Trade Organisation's Hong Kong Ministerial Conference (HKMC), and seven other officers for neutralising a highly organised vice syndicate in Kowloon West Region.

Chief Superintendent David Cartwright and Chief Superintendent Peter Morgan were commended for their leadership, professional ability, energy and devotion to duty of an exceptionally high order displayed during HKMC as Chairperson of the Working Group on Tactics and Training and the Working Group on Public Order respectively.

Also commended for their outstanding performances during HKMC were Senior Superintendent Cheung Tak-keung as Chairperson of the Police Public Relations and Publicity Working Group, Woman Senior Superintendent Lam Man-sai as Chairperson of the Working Group on Command and Control, Superintendent Martin Cadman for planning, preparation, execution and review of policing for HKMC, and Chief Inspector Wong Kwong-hing as Chief Negotiator of the Police NGO Liaison Team.

Commended for their leadership, professional ability and devotion to duty of an exceptionally high order displayed during an operation against the vice syndicate were Superintendent Siu Chak-yee, Chief Inspector Chow Chong-wai, Chief Inspector Lau Shu-sing, Woman Chief Inspector Chan Yee-lai, Senior Inspector Tam Chi-yin, Senior Inspector Chung Yat-cheung and Sergeant Ho Yat-sing. Their performances have resulted in 89 syndicate members, including the mastermind, being convicted of various vice-related and money laundering offences, as well as in confiscation of $86 million in crime proceeds.
