Anti-graft contest

When it came to raising officers' awareness of the revised Force Anti-Corruption Strategy promulgated in November last year, Chai Wan Division chose to organise a poster competition among their staff. The focus of the contest was to make officers more aware of such issues as "undesirable association", "conflict of interest", "imprudent financial management" and "misconduct in public office".

In a bid to involve all officers in the Division, both disciplined and civilian, each of them was given the right to take part in the adjudication of entries by giving scores for various contest criteria such as clarity of design, pertinence of message and creativity, etc. This concept was borrowed from a US reality TV show and had the desired effect with 17 submissions received and 98 per cent of the staff casting their votes.

The Deputy Regional Officer HK East (Community Relations Department) of ICAC, Miss Yvonne Mui Yee-yu, Chai Wan Divisional Commander JG Wan and other management grade officers also cast their votes after assessing the entries.

"The standard of the entries is very high. I'm impressed and indeed heartened by the contestants' strong views against corruption," Miss Mui noted.

The competition concluded with the presentation of awards in the presence of Miss Mui, Eastern District Commander Peter Morgan and Deputy District Commander Lee Kwan-hing.
