Marine Region games on land

The Marine Region Sports Day on January 12 in PSRC was a big success, drawing about 400 police and civilian officers to a variety of hotly contested events.

Immediately after Marine Deputy Regional Commander Austin Kerrigan kicked off the annual event, intense competition began in badminton, table tennis, fun games (six-legged race and goal-to-go), basketball, tug-of-war and 11-a-side football. Action was just as tough on the sideline as in the field, with contesting cheerleaders exhausting their gimmicks, to cheer on both their players and the spectators. For those who needed to catch their breath, the entries to the Regional Poster Design Competition on display in the PSRC lobby provided a good break.

The climax of the day was the tug-of-war. At the gun of Marine Regional Commander Au Hok-lam, the contenders muscled at the rope in front of the loud-shouting cheerleaders and spectators that rocked the whole venue.

At the end of the day, after a show of friendly competition and sportsmanship, Marine East Division took home the overall championship trophy and Small Boat Division made the best cheerleaders.

Plenty of actions on the football pitch
