Secondary school principal

In a letter to CP, the principal thanked WSIP Lo for delivering an "excellent and informative" talk on drug abuse to 700 students in his school, pointing out that her "lively and entertaining" presentation raised the students' awareness of the harm of drug abuse. The principal also praised EDIST for working closely with the Hong Kong University's Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention in promoting mental health.

The Incorporated Owners of a private housing estate in Tsuen Wan

In a letter to DC TWDIST, the flat owners praised the officers for evacuating residents and keeping order after a fire had broken out in a flat on their estate. The officers had impressed the estate residents with their outstanding performance, and set a good role model for other civil servants.

In a letter to DC BORDIST, the principal thanked BORDIST officers for assisting and supporting her students over the years after they had joined the JPC School Club Programme. Thanks to the officers' advice and assistance, the students recently clinched the championship of the JPC District Councils Road Safety Project Competition. The principal also extended special thanks to WCIP Hui and her staff.

The centre thanked the officers for devoting their free time to assisting its various training activities for youngsters in Tuen Mun. In doing so, the officers helped the youngsters steer clear of crime.

Taxi driver

The taxi driver thanked the officers for mediating a settlement of his dispute with a woman passenger in an impartial and professional manner. Though the dispute was of a minor nature, the officers handled the case in a serious and professional manner, demonstrating that modern police work is service-oriented.

Woman prisoner

The prisoner said she was disoriented and at a loss to know what to do when she was brought to Kwun Tong Magistracy to enter plea. Luckily WPC Leung, a cell guard at the magistracy, comforted her and made her see her wrong doings and pick up confidence to start life afresh.

Columnist of a Chinese daily

Writing in the newspaper, the columnist said: "On the day a noodle shop opened in Wan Chai, three young men in high spirit came in and identified themselves as members of the anti-triad squad from Wan Chai. They said whenever a new shop opened in Wan Chai, they would pay visits to see if anybody had made any trouble and demanded protection money. One of the major reasons I like Hong Kong is because I like the Hong Kong Police. That they make my life secure is an important factor and the valuable asset of Hong Kong." The three young men turned out to be members of the DATS 1 WCHDIST.
