Staff of Marine Region bid their retiring Regional Commander Au Hok-lam a warm farewell on June 22 in a grand banquet, which also saw a large turnout of friends, work partners and fellow mariners. Mr Au's successor, Ms Chang Mo-see, also joined her colleagues at the function.

Besides good wine and food, the enchanting strains of the Police Band added to the jovial atmosphere of the evening. As delicious dessert was served, Deputy Regional Commander, Marine Region, Chief Superintendent Austin Kerrigan, and his predecessor, retired Chief Superintendent Kong Shing-shun, spoke with savoury humour on behalf of the gathering to wish Mr Au a happy retirement.

At the conclusion of the event, the flag of the Marine Police was presented to Mr Au by his fellow mariners as a token of their respect.

Mr Au proceeded on pre-retirement leave on June 28.
