Marine Regional Commander Chang Mo-see took up her new appointment on June 28.

Having worked in different PHQ and Land Formations, Ms Chang told OffBeat: "Undoubtedly the work of the Marine Police is just full of challenges as any other Formations, but I will, as always in the past, adhere to the Force motto of "We Serve with Pride and Care", and work closely with some 2,600 officers in different Marine formations to deliver quality service to the public."

"I'll continue to forge harmonious work relations within the Marine Region. At the same time, I'll also encourage officers to care and support one another, help one another to relieve stress, and work closely to tide over difficulties, all towards the ultimate goal of providing the best service possible to the public," she added.

Marine Region is responsible for policing the waters and 261 islands lying within 1,651 square kilometres of coastal and port area within the HKSAR. In addition to routine policing, the Region enforces the laws relating to immigration and anti-smuggling. It also plays an active role in sea rescue operations, enforces port and maritime regulations and looks after the 76,000 outlying islands residents and the large number of holidaymakers flocking to the islands.

New RC MAR loses no time in familiarising herself with the many aspects of marine police work
