A group of Mainland pupils sampled police work and inspected police facilities and equipment during an educational visit to the Chai Wan Police Station on September 28.

Forty pupils, all aged eight, from the Guangda New Asia Foreign Language Primary School in Dongguan, toured the briefing and report rooms, inspected motorbikes and police patrol cars, including the commander car which happened to be in the station for the National Day Celebration, and watched a demonstration on use of handcuffs, batons and other police equipment.

The young visitors had a lot to ask the junior officers from various units who volunteered to greet their guests and share their frontline experiences with them. The visit gave the officers a good opportunity to develop their leadership, planning and presentation skills.

At the end of the visit, the visitors presented to Divisional Commander James Wan a Chinese calligraphy scroll drawn by their teachers to extol officers as the elite of the Force.

Very impressed with their visit, the pupils expressed admiration for the Force by writing and drawing on souvenir cards. "I want to be a policeman and put bad guys in jail," said one of them, after learning first hand modern policing resources.
