Fight crime committees visit WDIST |

Western District (WDIST) invited members of the Southern District Fight Committee and the Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee to visit Aberdeen Police Station and Western Police Station the other day, in a bid to push community policing. The primary purposes of the invitation are to enable the visitors to gain a better understanding of police work and procedures, and to provide an opportunity for officers to meet members of community organisations and appreciate the roles they play. During the visit, frontline officers from Aberdeen and Western divisions briefed their visitors on drug abuse by youths, prevention of street scams, strategies and procedures for handling cases of domestic violence and arrest procedures, etc. The committee members showed a great interest in the officers' presentations, in particular the rise of domestic violence cases. They also discussed the cases cited by the officers. Following the briefing, the committee members toured the Report Room, Video Interview Room and the latest Arrest Processing System Room. During a lunch with Western District Commander Chiu Wai-yin, they said the visit would strengthen mutual understanding and communication, and pledged full support for fighting crime.
