Representatives of the Hong Kong & China Gas Company Limited visited the Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) on December 4 to thank Bureau officers for their assistance in conducting a review of the security of key gas installations across Hong Kong.

Since the 9-11 attacks in 2001, the company has, with the assistance of CPB, taken a pro-active approach to the security of its facilities in the context of terrorism, in addition to the threat posed by profit-driven criminals. The latest exercise served to review installations in the light of updated threat assessments.

Mr Michael Szeto, Corporate Administration Manager of Towngas, presented souvenir pens to Bureau officers and thanked them for their assistance. "The Crime Prevention Bureau plays a valuable role in the provision of professional, objective and independent advice to the corporate security sector," he noted.

CPB Superintendent Mark Medwecki expressed appreciation of Towngas'commitment to security, and noted that the recent review represented "just one example of the positive contribution to the security of Hong Kong, achieved through collaboration with our private sector counterparts".
