The yearlong Used Clothing Collection Campaign 2007 jointly organised with the Salvation Army concluded with the Christmas and New Year Drive on January 14, with the total donation jumping from 28,300 to 58,180 kilograms. This record-breaking figure could not have been achieved without the active participation of the Staff Associations, Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps, Police Officers' Club, Police Sports & Recreation Club and the Residents' Associations of the Police Married Quarters/Disciplined Services Quarters.

To recognise the concerted effort of these participating units, a Hand-over cum Recognition Ceremony was held on January 30 at Police Headquarters, with Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Tang Kam-moon and Major Priscilla Nanlabi, General Secretary of the Salvation Army, officiating.

At the ceremony, Mr Tang commended the enthusiastic support of Force members, their families and staff for the collection campaign, and urged them to continue extending care and concern to the community.

At the same time, Major Nanlabi expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Force and Force members, and presented souvenirs to representatives of the participating units as a token of appreciation of their contributions to this meaningful charity programme.

The Force will continue promoting this worthwhile cause with the Salvation Army. Do join the campaign for 2008 and deposit your used clothing and items at any one of the collection points at Police Headquarters, Police Officers' Club, Police Sports and Recreation Club, Police Married Quarters at Old Bailey Street, Tsing Yi, Sheung Shui and Yuen Long as well as the Disciplined Services Quarters at Ko Cheung Court, Kwai Fuk Court, Kwai Yung Court, Lai King, West Kowloon, Wong Tai Sin and Yau Mei Court.

Your donation not only brings warmth to the needy but also contributes to the environmental cause.

The Force Used Clothing Collection Campaign 2007 has come to a successful conclusion with a record amount of 58,180 kilograms of clothing collected
