NTN officers keep fit with Spring Fun Run |
||
Following introduction of the "New Territories North (NTN) RHQs Physical Fitness and Health Management Award Scheme" and a 2.4-km run in September last year, the "NTN Regional HQs Physical Fitness and Health Management Committee" organised another major event, NTN Regional Spring Fun Run, on February 13 to promote healthy lifestyle among its officers. Officers from NTN HQ and Tai Po District actively participated in the event to share the joy of the Chinese New Year. Officiating at the launching ceremony of the lunchtime run, New Territories North Regional Commander Cheung Siu-wah reminded officers that the Equestrian Events would pose another challenge for the Force and NTN Region. He appealed to Force members to make the Events a resounding success so as to bring pride and credit to the Motherland, Hong Kong and the Force. Mr Cheung emphasised that the Physical Fitness and Health Management Award Scheme aimed at encouraging NTN RHQs staff to pay more attention to their own physical and mental fitness, and to participate in more sports activities. Officers could formulate their own physical fitness and health management in accordance with their personal interests, abilities and shift duties, and then cultivate a sustainable interest in sports and healthy lifestyle, Mr Cheung added. After NTN Deputy Regional Commander Peter Hunt kicked off the run, the runners, led by their RC, covered two laps of a 3-kilometre course between Kam Shan Village and NTN HQ in really cold but clear weather. Each runner was rewarded with a "red pocket" and a bottle of drinking water at the finish line.
