The Family Protection Fund is open for application until 30th of this month from all officers at Inspectorate rank and above and all civilian Force members who have missed the opportunity to apply within the first three months after joining the Force on recruitment or transfer.

The Family Protection Fund, administered with the assistance of the Personnel Services and Staff Relations (PR & SR) Branch, is an insurance scheme tailor-made for officers at Inspectorate rank and above and all civilian officers in the Force. It provides a maximum insurance protection of $500,000 in the unfortunate event that an insured officer dies whilst in service or suffers from varying degrees of permanent disability caused by accidents.

For this re-opening exercise, each new member should pay $515 as admission fee. A cheque for this sum, together with the application form, should be sent to the Secretariat of Family Protection Fund, Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch, 38/F, Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, 1 Arsenal Street, Wanchai.

In addition, an officer who has joined the Fund needs to make a monthly contribution to the Fund. The contribution will be directly deducted from his or her monthly salary. The current monthly contribution rate is $50.

A Family Protection Fund member, who has joined the Fund for five years or more and is a contributor to the Fund at the time of retirement, is entitled to a retirement souvenir and a special grant of $5,000 to the spouse or dependants after he or she has passed away.

For further details and application form, visit the PS&SR Branch website on POINT or call PS&SR Branch hotline at 2860-3200.
