Station Sergeants Chik Pui-yan from Cheung Chau Division and Tang Kwok-lai from Emergency Unit New Territories North attended a two-week Leadership, Excellence, Action and Development for Exceptional Results (L.E.A.D.E.R.) course in the Ontario Police College, Canada, in January, with the arrangement of the Police College.

It is the first time the Force has sent officers to attend this development course in the Ontario Police College. They studied various useful topics, including leadership in action, project management, risk assessment and emotional intelligence, brushing up a lot their management and leadership skills.

Both officers have found the course highly rewarding, and brought back valuable experiences. They are impressed with the teaching style and the atmosphere in the classroom. SSGT Chik commented: "Instructions were given in an interactive and open style. The lecturers encouraged two-way communication and group discussions to share experiences. We gained a good idea of how countries with different cultures and backgrounds handle police work."

They enjoyed their hosts' hospitality and the networking they established during their course.
