A total of 40 Junior Police Call (JPC) members and leaders, as well as 59 JPC school clubs and district councils were commended on March 29 for their outstanding contributions to organising and participating in community services, publicising fight crime messages and promoting the JPC Scheme. At the Presentation Ceremony of the Hongkong Bank Foundation JPC Awards 2007, they received commendation trophies and cash awards from Commissioner Tang King-shing, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yam Tat-wing, and Head of Corporate Sustainability Asia Pacific Region of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), Ms Teresa Au. Speaking at the ceremony, Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Ng Ka-sing praised the members, leaders, school clubs and district councils for their contributions to JPC activities in the past year, which included anti-crime, anti-drug and environmental protection events and community services. Mr Ng pointed out that the award scheme had been fruitful over the past 30 years, thanks to the support of the community and HSBC. Commending JPC members for their effort and enthusiasm, Ms Au said: "The JPC mission corresponds with HSBC's aims to actively support education projects in the community and encourage students to have holistic development. HSBC is proud to have funded the award scheme since 1986. We hope the youth of Hong Kong can establish proper values and be better equipped for the challenges of life through participation in JPC activities."
