Following the success of its first Training Day package on counter-terrorism, produced in March 2006 in collaboration with Security Wing and Operations Wing, the Police College has produced the second package on the same topic.

The first training package has made officers more aware of their roles and responsibilities concerning counter-terrorism. "Concerted Effort to Combat Terrorism" will be the theme of the next Force Training Day.

Other units taking part in production of the second training package on counter-terrorism include Operations Wing, Security Wing and Railway District. This package seeks to enable officers to understand how to deal with the scene of a terrorist attack, suspected objects and a suicide attack; to raise their awareness of counter-terrorism and to familiarise themselves with the Force's strategy on counter-terrorism.

Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Suen Kwai-leung delivers a closing address in the training package, the content of which includes group activities and three training scenarios for group discussion.

To help Formations prepare for their Training Days, Force Training Officer, Superintendent Cheung Kam-chuen, conducted seven train-the-trainer workshops for Training and Staff Relations Officers (TSRO) and District Training Team Members between April 28 and May 8.

The training package will be issued to frontline officers according to the schedules set by their TSROs. A training manual and a PowerPoint presentation have been uploaded to the Training Days Resource Bank on POINT.
