The 2008 Force Annual Shooting Competition held on May 17 at PHQ was a huge success, attracting the participation of nearly 200 regular and auxiliary police shooters across the Force. As in previous years, the competition was held at the 12/F indoor shooting range, with the Multi-purpose Hall on the 10/F used as the reception area and venue for prize presentation. The event reached a climax when former Deputy Commissioner Fung Siu-yuen watched and cheered on the shooting tearms from 12 Major Formations battling for the Fung Siu Yuen Cup for the Promotion Relay. Finally, Mr Fung presented the cup to Police College for the second time in a row. The other prizes were presented by Acting Commissioner Yam Tat-wing. Yau Tsim District was the champion of the "UB Team" category and Criminal Intelligence Bureau captured the title of the "Crime Team" category. Weapon Training Division retained their titles in both "Revolver" and "Pistol" classes in the "Open" category. The "Auxiliary Team" trophy went to North Point Division for the second consecutive year. The table below contains the full list of medalists. In support of the "Force Collection of Voluntary Donations for the Urgent Relief of Sichuan Earthquake Victims", a collection box was set up at the reception area. Within the short space of eight hours, officers contributed a total of $7,000. At the end of the event, the Chairman of the Police Shooting Club, Mr Fan Sik-ming, thanked the volunteer workers of the shooting club and from across the Force for their excellent support and contribution to the success of the competition.
