The Regional Crime Prevention Office, Kowloon East (RCPO KE) held "Project Sunshine" at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on October 11 in the form of a seminar on drug abuse by youth and introduction of the anti-youth drug initiatives in Kowloon East. Targeting secondary schools in Kowloon East, the event aimed at, through education and communication, minimising the drug problem among youth. A number of guest speakers for the seminar also served as project advisors and partners, such as Dr Ben Cheung Kin-leung, a specialist in psychiatry and Chairman of the Sub-Committee of Treatment and Rehabilitation of the Action Committee Against Narcotics, and Prof Howard Cheng Chi-ho, Associate Head of Applied Social Science of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to share their valuable experience of the youth drug problem. The Government Chemist also gave a talk on "Urinalysis and New Development" at the seminar. The seminar attracted about 70 secondary school representatives, including principals and teachers. After the seminar, the project will then arrange a series of programmes for teachers and students, such as visits to the Government Laboratory and drug rehabilitation centres.
