The Hong Kong Police Review 2007 has won a Silver Award in governmental classification of the 19th Annual International Galaxy 2008 Awards Competition. The award is the only prize offered in the classification.

According to judges from Germany and Canada, the text and photos of the Force annual report are touching and have reflected excellent teamwork.

The Awards Competition aims at advancing the arts and sciences of communications in an international arena.

The Galaxy Awards are organised by MerComm, Inc., an independent organisation founded with the exclusive purpose of evaluating, measuring and recognising the standards of excellence. The Galaxy programme is the only competition that is judged by peers in the profession rather than by editors and advertisers. Judging is based not on budget, but on the values of creativity, effectiveness, performance and success, as symbolised by the Galaxy Awards.

The competition was sponsored by the International Academy of Communication Arts and Sciences.

Each entry is evaluated three separate times during the preliminary rounds. The three sets of scores are then averaged into a single score for individual entry. A certain minimum score must be achieved to qualify for an award. Only one Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honors Award will be given in each classification; however, if no entry scores high enough, no award will be given.

Over 580 entries were received from 16 countries and regions including Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, French West Indies, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, China, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK and the US this year.
