A delegation from the Israeli Law Enforcement and Port Security Authorities, comprising senior Israeli Government officials and commercial advisors, were briefed on maritime policing and maritime security matters during a visit to Marine Region Operations Bureau on November 25.

Marine Regional Commander Debbie Chang Mo-see greeted the delegation, while senior officers from Marine Regional Operations and Support Bureaux briefed the visitors on the role, function and duties of Marine Region in the regional and local contexts, particularly focussing on the multi-agency approach to implementing the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, maritime rescue and major security incident response.

The delegation also toured the Regional Command and Control Centre Marine, where they were introduced to the command, control and communications systems currently in use, including the Digital Radar Security System, and to the Region's future strategic direction under the Versatile Maritime Policing Response (VMPR) project.

The delegation was then taken to Junk Bay to watch a demonstration on fast pursuit tactics given by the Small Boats Division. The delegates were also taken on a guided tour of newly delivered VMPR craft, Medium Police Launch and Divisional Fast Patrol Craft.

The visit was part of Marine Region's ongoing information exchanges with international organisations and commercial port facility operators in a bid to strengthen global security co-operation.
