Fight Crime Conference a great success

Chairperson of the 2008 Fight Crime Conference, and member of the Fight Crime Committee (FCC), Ms Sylvia Yau, appealed to the public on December 6 to make Hong Kong a safe and harmonious home by joining hands with the Government to fight and prevent crime.

Ms Yau was speaking at the conference, which is a biennial event organised by the FCC to provide a forum for members of the FCC and District Fight Crime Committees (DFCCs) to exchange views. The theme of this year's conference was "United in the Fight Against Crime".

At the conference, the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, delivered an opening address, while the Chief Secretary for Administration and Chairman of the FCC, Mr Henry Tang, gave a keynote speech.

The outcome of the discussions was presented at the conference.

During a plenary session, nearly 400 FCC and DFCC members exchanged views with representatives of policy bureaux and departments on the law and order situation and ways to fight crime.

Commissioner Tang King-shing attended the fight crime conference, along with the Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung; Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee; Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung; Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Kwok Leung-ming; Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan; Assistant Director of Home Affairs, Miss Linda So, and Principal Assistant Secretary for Education, Mrs Michelle Wong.
