Forty officers from the Force, Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department and Independent Commission Against Corruption attended a seminar organised by the Police College early this month to promote the development and sharing of the best practices of e-Learning.

In his opening address, Head of the college's Learning Development Support Centre Vincent Yeung said: "Application of technology nowadays, especially for the new generation, has become part of our daily lives, like breathing. Undoubtedly, the application of technology in learning and development, i.e. e-Learning, will be the future trend and will grow tremendously in the years to come."

At the seminar, delegates from the four participating law enforcement agencies gave presentations on their e-Learning developments and shared experiences and challenges with each other. Speakers from Customs and Excise showcased their e-Learning package on staff orientation and X-ray security scanning, while delegates from Immigration Department highlighted their integrated approach to e-Learning development. Staff of ICAC demonstrated their new e-Learning portal and the Force representative briefed the audience on the different phases of the Force's e-Learning development and the advanced learning technology developed by the Police College.

The participants treasured this opportunity to network with the training staff of other law enforcement agencies, and to share not only information of e-Learning but also other areas of learning and development.

Chief Inspector (Learning Technologies) of the Police College, Mr Andy Yip, also organiser of the seminar, said in his closing remarks: "It is amazing to see the similarity in our development, yet there is still much to learn from one another. This gathering is a good start and has built a platform for further networking. It is hoped that similar events can be organised regularly so that we can benchmark the best practices of others, thus further enhancing the quality of our products."
