HKAPF IRMC starts new term |
||
The newly elected members of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force's (HKAPF) Internal Review and Management Committee (IRMC) have begun their three-year office. A total of 64 representatives from regional, district and divisional constituencies were elected for the new term after a Re-election Sub-committee chaired by Chief Superintendent (Auxiliary) Fung Kam-tong completed its task last month. Like their predecessors who served in the last term, the new IRMC members will act as a communication channel between the IRMC and their Regions, Districts and Divisions by collecting and presenting to the IRMC views on duties, training, welfare and other matters of concern. The newly elected IRMC held its first meeting on November 20 after HKAPF Commandant Kwok Chi-shun presented appointment letters to the newly elected members, as well as appreciation letters to the members and a working party that served in the last term of the IRMC. Mr Kwok also announced the appointments of HKAPF Deputy Commandant Yiu Yeung-lung as the Chairman and Chief Superintendents (Auxiliary) Ip Yun-hung and Fung Kam-tong as the Co-Vice Chairmen of the IRMC. The IRMC was set up in January 2000 to study the 33 recommendations put forward by the Force Committee on Auxiliary Police in March 1999. Subsequently, it was recognised as a Standing Committee with extended membership to strengthen communications amongst Auxiliary members and to serve as a channel for forwarding their views and suggestions on developments and issues affecting the Auxiliary Police Force to the Commandant. Since November 2001 when a resolution was passed by the IRMC, all representatives of Regions, Districts, Divisions and Auxiliary Police Band have been chosen through an election process. To ensure a fair representation of all ranks, superintendents or above, inspectorate officers and junior police officers represent the regional, district and divisional constituencies respectively.
